Kambo Ceremony
Frog Medicine for Cleansing the Body
Kambo Ceremony
A Kambo ceremony or Kambo cleanse is done in a ceremonial setting either as a group or a 1-1 session. It is a frog medicine that is used to help with many different ailments of the physical and energetic body. There are benefits in the esoteric realm of clearing our stuck energy, blockages and supporting motivation, along with physical effects of boosting the immune system, reducing stress and supporting your moods.
Kambo is not psychadelic or psychoactive, it is a chemical compound filled with healing bio-active peptides that at times can be quite unpleasant. The compounds found in Kambo induce purgation and flu like symptoms activating the immune system. Traditional healing methods of purgation or vommitting have been used for centuries all over the world. From eastern Ayurvedic doctors to tribes of South America, just about every culture on earth has used, or continues to use substances that induce vomiting (emetics) as a source of medicine.
What to Expect During a Kambo Ceremony:
We always begin ceremony in a fasted state (on an empty stomach) and with two sacred medicines, Sananga (eye drops) and Rapè (tobacco snuff) to prepare the body and mind for the Kambo. You will begin the process by drinking 1 - 1.5 liters of traditional Caicuma (yucca root drink). It is important to have something in the stomach that can be easily purged during the process helping to cleanse and detox the body. With careful consideration, we will burn 1-3 gates on to the skin with the end of an insense stick. The burns are gently rubbed removing the top layer of skin giving access to the lymphaic and blood systems.
Once all the Caicuma has been finished, the Kambo is placed directly onto the burns and within minutes you will begin to feel its effects. The immediate effects of Kambo are intense and unpleasant but are short lived. The whole Kambo experience lasts only 30 minutes with the hardest moments lasting only 10-15 minutes. You will you feel your heart begin to race and a burning or tingling sensation moving throughout the entire body. The body will begin to feel flu like symptoms such as a rise in temperature, shivers, sweats, slight dizziness, rising and falling of your blood pressure, slight swelling of the lips, eyes and throat (Frog Face) and then an overwhelming feeling of nausea followed by a couple rounds of vomitting and or a desire to use the toilet.
Does everyone vomit?
The overwhelming nausea and vomitting is generally unavoidable and part of the healing process. It is a sensation so strong that it forces you to become ever present in the experience working with your breath and finding the space of transcendence within your mind. Within minutes the initial sensations will begin to fade and the heart rate returns back to normal.
Rest & Integrate
Once the session has ended, the Kambo is removed and you will instantly start to feel the body begin to settle. Most participants will feel a desire to lay down, falling into a deep sleep, integrating the experience and allowing as much time as the body needs to rest.
Your experience may feel enhanced and sensitive following the Kambo purge. You may feel great physical strength, sharpened senses, and heightened mental alertness. Desirable after-effects like these may come on immediately or it may take a day to materialize. They also tend to include a consistently elevated mood, increased physical and mental energy, decreased stress, and enhanced focus. Every Kambo session is different and every person reacts to the process in their own way. Its beautiful to hold space for whatever rises up in this space as it was meant to surface and be healed.
In the coming days after a treatment, it’s certainly not uncommon for people to report having clarity of mind, clearing of emotional baggage, heightened awareness and focus, resilience to stress and fatigue, reduced illness, an increased sense of energy and well-being, and even more clarity to their life path.

Is Kambo Safe?
Kambo is extremely safe when administered by a trained practitioner or Shaman. In the Amazon jungle, Kambo is known as the “vaccine of the forest”, used to treat many ailments, diseases and illnesses of many villages and communities. I have seen the Kambo administered to everyone from young babies, women with heart disease, children with allergies and so many of the contradictions we are taught here in the US that are not safe. With the utmost care and concern I work with a combination of the teachings of the IAKP along with those I was taught by my teacher in Amazon of Peru.
I have come to notice a drastic difference in the amount of trauma, toxins, substance abuse and stressors Americans and western societies are exposed to, making their Kambo ceremony a harder and more intense process. It is important to consult a properly trained and skilled practitioner with any concerns you may have about you specific health needs. Every single client who works with us is required to fill out a detailed health questionnaire that will be evaluated to determine the best ceremony and best practices of serving you and the medicine.
Frog Face
Frog face is a side effect of the Kambo medicine that subsides a couple of hours after ceremony or slight puffiness may linger until the next day.
Some say its a badge of honor or being "Kissed by the Frog". Its almost as if your embodying the Kambo frog spirit.
It really brings home the true warrior spirit within, a badge of honor all clients are proud to wear.
